Director of People Operations - Apply Here

Meadowlark Media is a growing media company producing premium content across sports, culture, and entertainment. We are five years old, growing out of the start-up phase and moving at production speed – we are creative, collaborative, and constantly evolving.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Director of People Operations to support, strengthen and reinforce our people practices.

The Director of People Operations is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for reviewing, improving, and scaling Meadowlark Media’s existing Human Resources foundations while building new processes where needed. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, executive leadership, and on-air and creative talent to ensure our people systems support a production-driven, non-union environment – without slowing the business down.

This role requires strong judgment, discretion, empathy and the ability to balance business needs with the realities of creative and talent-facing work.

With offices in New York and Miami and a number of remote employees and contractors, this role requires a presence in the offices with travel expected when necessary. This role is being offered as a consultancy or as full-time employment.

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Strengthen a high-performance, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture

  • Review and improve onboarding, performance management, feedback, and development processes

  • Act as a visible, trusted resource for employees and managers

  • Lead employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution

Talent & Growth

  • Partner with hiring managers to improve recruiting and hiring practices

  • Support leadership development and long-term talent planning

  • Help identify future people needs as the company grows

  • Source and identify talent through the full life cycle of recruitment

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state (Florida, New York), and local employment laws

  • Review and update HR policies and documentation as needed

  • Oversee payroll coordination, benefits, and compensation practices

  • Identify and mitigate people-related risk in a fast-moving, creative environment

What We’re Looking For

  • 8–10+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior-level leadership

  • Experience reviewing, improving, and scaling existing HR functions

  • Background in media, production, entertainment, or high-growth environments strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and non-union HR practices

  • Comfortable partnering directly with executives and talent

  • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment

  • A practical, hands-on approach with respect for creative cultures

Why Meadowlark

  • Senior leadership role with direct access to executive decision-makers

  • Opportunity to shape HR practices in partnership with business and creative leaders
